Dapagain 10 Tablet Use and Benefits

Dapagain 10 is a diabetes medicine. It helps in reducing the increased amount of sugar in the body. It is a selective SGLT 2 inhibitor, which prevents the re-absorption of Renal Glucose in a patient with Type 2 Diabetes. Along with reducing sugar, it also controls blood pressure.

Uses of Dapagain 10 Tablet –

This medicine is mainly given to patients suffering from type 2 diabetes. It removes the increased amount of glucose in the body through urine. Due to this, the glucose level decreases.

This medicine is also given to patients who have high blood pressure along with sugar. Taking this medicine also lowers blood pressure.

Dose of Dapagain 10 Tablet –

Type 2 Diabetes mellitus –

The dosage of this medicine is started at 5 mg once in 24 hours. Take this medicine in the morning with food or before food.

If a patient is not being controlled by 5mg, then their dose can be given up to 10mg in 24 hours.

If you are taking this medicine with any insulin then you should check your glucose level otherwise the amount of sugar will drop and you will get Hypoglycaemia (low level of glucose in the blood).

Heart failure –

In this condition, its dosage is up to 10 mg in 24 hours.

Benefits of Dapagain 10 Tablet –

If patients with weak kidneys are taking this medicine, then they should first get their kidneys checked. They should not take this medicine if their eGFR is less than 60 mL/min/1.73 m2. If eGFR is 60 mL/min/1.73 m2

Use in specific populations –

Pregnancy –

No studies related to this are available yet. According to research done on other animals, Dapagain harms the unborn fetus. There is less loss in the first quarter but does more loss in the second and third quarter.

Therefore, before taking this medicine, make sure that Fetus is not harmed. If any kind of damage is happening then do not take this medicine.

Breastfeeding –

As of now, there is no information available that this medicine can pass into the baby through breast milk. But according to the research done on rats, this drug is an inhibitor of kidney development.

Kidney development in humans takes place from birth to 2 years. That is why taking this medicine will not lead to the proper development of kidneys in the baby. We all know that most medicines come out with breast milk.

Pediatric (in children) –

Never give this medicine to children. Always given to people over 18 years of age.

Geriatric (in old age) –

The dosage of Dapagain 10 can be increased or decreased according to age. If the patient is having any kind of problem with the kidney, then in that case the medicine can be stopped.

Hepatic Impairment –

If a patient has any kind of problem in the liver, then in that case the dosage is not adjusted. This medicine does not have much relation with the liver.

Warning –

Hypotension –

Consumption of this medicine may cause symptomatic hypotension in patients with impaired renal function (eGFR less than 60 mL/min/1.73 m2). If a patient is already taking any diuretics, then even in that case the patient goes into Hypotension.

Hypoglycemia with Concomitant use of insulin and insulin Secretagogues –

When a patient is given insulin along with Dapagain 10, then there is an increased chance of the patient having hypoglycemia (low sugar level). That is why the dosage should be given keeping this in mind.

Genital mycotic Infections

The use of Dapagain 10 increases the chances of genital infections. If a patient has already had such a problem, then the chances of getting an infection increase.

Increase LDL-C

Long-term use of this medicine increases the amount of LDL in the body.

Diabetic ketoacidosis –

Long-term use of SGLT 2 Inhibitors may increase the risk of diabetic ketoacidosis. Therefore, this medicine is not given for a long time to such patients.

UTI (Urinary tract infection) –

Having urinary glucose excretion increases the risk of getting a UTI (urinary tract infection).

Storage –

• Always keep at a temperature below 30°C.

• Keep away from children and pets.

• Never keep in direct sunlight.

• Should be kept away from moisture.
