Tim Scott is campaigning for president as an anti-abortion extremist. As he attempts to out-MAGA the rest of the GOP 2024 hopefuls, he’s praised extreme legislation that bans abortion before many women even know they’re pregnant, and he’s made it clear that as president, he would sign the most restrictive national abortion ban possible.
Tim Scott has repeatedly promised to sign the most restrictive national abortion ban possible if he were president, starting with a 15-week ban.
Scott: “If I were president of the United States, I would literally sign the most conservative pro-life legislation that they can get through Congress.”
Scott: “I’ve cosponsored a 20-week bill. I’ve signaled very clearly I’d sign a 15-week bill.”
Scott: “I am 100% pro-life. When I am president of the United States, I will sign the most pro-life legislation the House and Senate can put on my desk. We should begin with a 15-week national limit.”
Scott on whether he would sign Lindsey Graham’s 15-week ban: “Every day, I would sign that bill into law. I would sign the most conservative pro-life legislation you can bring to my desk.”
He also said it was “good news” when his home state of South Carolina passed an extreme bill that bans abortion before many women know they’re pregnant and threatens doctors and nurses with jail time.
Scott: “The state is trying to protect the culture of life and that’s good news. I mean, the heartbeat bill is a step in the direction of that.”
His abortion extremism on the campaign trail is par for the course — as a senator, Tim Scott co-sponsored the Life at Conception Act and a national abortion ban that could have threatened doctors with jail time.
